We are currently seeking a Forensic Analyst. This position is located in Charlottesville, VA.
Battelle has a long history of supporting the U.S. Government in biosurveillance, detection and identification using a variety of technologies for advanced identification and characterization. Our Applied Genomics and Biology Business is currently seeking a full-time Forensic Analyst to provide laboratory support for hDNA technologies and bioinformatic analysis support. Compensation will be based on relevant qualifications and experience.
Participating in teams for the execution, analysis, and reporting of data generated using molecular techniques and cutting-edge technologies
Participation in data reduction and compilation adhering to accepted practices
Presentation and reporting of progress and results to senior scientists
Laboratory and equipment maintenance to ensure smooth functioning of data generation within designated time frames
THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:
Bachelor’s degree in biology, genetics, forensic science (specializing in hDNA), or other related field with at least two years of relevant laboratory and bioinformatics experience; and/or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics with relevant experience
Knowledge and experience performing DNA collection, extraction, sequencing procedures and operation of associated instrumentation
Laboratory experience including method development and optimization.
Knowledge and practical use of bioinformatic software programs and software development
Excellent oral and written communication skills
The ability to work in a team environment
Sole U.S. citizenship, with the ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances as a condition of employment.
Sufficiently medically fit to work in the laboratory to perform assigned duties
THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:
Five+ years of relevant laboratory experience
Current DoD Security Clearance
Experience with DNA Quality Assurance Standards
Meet minimum requirement for a DNA Examiner
Experience operating in GLP/GMP/ISO environments including the preparation and validation of standard operating procedures
