We are currently seeking an Electrical Design Engineer. This position located in Columbus, Ohio.
The Consumer, Industrial, and Medical group is hired by external companies from startups to Fortune 100 to assist them with their product development needs. Clients choose to work with us because of a proven track record for developing innovative and marketable solutions to challenging technical problems. The Electrical Design Engineer will be an integral part of the multi-disciplinary teams that we form around each project. A large focus for the group is on medical device development. This has included projects for mass produced drug delivery devices, immunodiagnostic systems, surgery tools, large scale imaging systems, and more. Regardless of whether the device is in the user’s hands or part of a larger system of care, they all are driven by the same ambition - to positively affect the user’s health outcome.
Lead electrical design efforts related to new product development projects, across all phases of the project lifecycle including concept, requirements definition, design execution and documentation, design verification, and transition to production.
Design projects may include microcontroller based embedded circuits, analog or digital systems, wireless communications, batteries and battery management systems, and/or integration of COTS components.
Responsible for project management of electrical engineering activities including scope, schedule, cost, and risk management planning, monitoring, controlling, and reporting.
Technical interface to clients, external suppliers, consultants and manufacturers.
Support the ecosystem of a creative and innovative workplace culture.
Be an advocate for continual improvement and technology initiatives.
THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline AND 5 years of applicable experience. OR
Master’s Degree in a related discipline AND 2 years of applicable experience. OR
PhD in a related discipline with some applicable experience.
Experience with analog, digital, and electro-mechanical circuits and components, which may include voltage and current regulators, FETs, LCDs, microprocessors, relays, motors, switches, solenoids, etc.
Candidate must be self-motivated, organized, and a problem solver who works well within a team.
Excellent oral/written communication skills to support interaction with cross-functional team members, and internal management.
THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:
Experience with integration of hardware and software/firmware systems.
Knowledge of troubleshooting/ fault isolation techniques is desirable.
Experience with communications and interconnects standards and protocols including USB, I2C, RS232, RS485, CAN, Ethernet, Bluetooth, and/or Wifi.
Experience with printed circuit board layout and assembly
Experience in task management, planning and leading electrical design activities.
Experience using structured methodologies and analysis techniques such as simulation packages, tolerance analysis, experimental design and evaluation.
Working knowledge and experience in risk analyses (i.e. ISO14971).
Background in medical products operating under a registered QS and under FDA Design Controls.
Experience with safety standards (UL, IEC, TUV).
