Primary Function

We are currently seeking a Additive Manufacturing Engineer to support RDT&E of Structural Materials. This position is located on-site at Tyndall Air Force Base, near Panama City, FL.

Job Description

The successful candidate will support development of civil engineering materials including advanced applications of additive manufacturing in emerging technical areas, including technologies identified for potential fielding into Air Force programs.

Major Responsibilities

Active areas of research include, but are not limited to:

  • Development and evaluation of materials formulations amenable to 3D printing

  • Use of indigenous materials for civil engineering applications

  • Fabrication of components/spare parts using additive manufacturing

  • Fabrication of structural components, modeling of materials properties

  • Additive manufacturing (3D printing) using various materials and processes

  • Develop printable cements/mortars, & evaluate physical characteristics (strength)

  • Replicate CAD drawings to yield parts

Position Requirements

  • BS degree in structural or civil engineering, materials science or similar and 5 years of RDT&E experience since graduation (MS degree and 2 years is acceptable)

  • Experience of military civil engineering operations is desirable

  • Specific experience related to research, design of systems, data analysis, instrumentation, and testing is required.

  • Solves complex problems; taking a new perspective using existing solutions.

  • Conducts quality control review, data reporting, work flow assessments and writes/reviews technical correspondence and technical documents.

  • Performs complex assignments by compiling and evaluating design data, preparing technical specifications, analyzing technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for product, process or materials specifications.

  • Analyzes and interprets data collected. Prepares technical reports and makes presentations to client, both formal and informal.

  • Troubleshoots complex testing processes when expected results are not obtained

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.
